Pignon en acier inoxydable ANSI 100, pas de 1-1/4 pouce — Billet contrôlé par ultrasons, intégrité du matériau garantie

Extra-heavy ANSI 100 stainless steel sprocket (31.75 mm pitch) from ultrasonic-tested, PMI-verified 316 SS billet — the material-integrity standard for continuous casting machine drives, steel mill acid conveyors, and offshore equipment where load, corrosion, and zero-defect requirements intersect. Replaces Tsubaki, Dodge, and Rexnord #100 units.

Description

Hangzhou Ever-Power Sprocket Co., Ltd.

At 1-1/4-inch pitch, the individual tooth loads can exceed 20 kN in heavy-duty applications. A subsurface void in the tooth root section — undetectable by surface inspection — becomes a fatigue crack initiation site under that cyclic load. We test for it before the first cut.

Material Integrity at the #100 Scale: Why Standard Mill Certs Are Not Enough

A mill test report (MTR) confirms the chemistry and mechanical properties of a heat of material from tests performed on a sacrificial sample — not on the bar stock that will become your sprocket. For most components, this is an entirely adequate quality assurance level. At the #100 pitch scale, with tooth cross-sections carrying 15–25 kN in service and inspection intervals of 12 months or more, it is not. The risk is subsurface defects: laminations, voids, and pipe defects that originate in the steelmaking and casting process and survive into the finished billet without affecting surface appearance or chemistry. On a small sprocket, a void off the load path is inconsequential. On a 40-tooth #100 SS sprocket driving a continuous casting machine strand guide, a lamination at the wrong location under cyclic tensile load is a fatigue crack waiting to initiate at the worst possible time — during a casting sequence that cannot be interrupted. Our response to this is non-negotiable: every billet over 120 mm diameter used for Ever-Power #100 Stainless Steel Sprockets is individually ultrasonically tested to ASTM A388 Grade D before a single machining pass is taken. Only UT-cleared material proceeds to the machine shop.

The Full Material Qualification Process

Step 1 — Billet Receipt & PMI

Every bar is scanned with portable XRF (positive material identification) on receipt. Grade 316 vs. 304 confirmed to exclude grade substitution — which is a documented real-world risk in the SS long-bar market. PMI record retained against billet serial number.

Step 2 — Ultrasonic Testing (ASTM A388)

Full billet cross-section scanned in overlapping passes using immersion or contact UT. Acceptance criterion: ASTM A388 Grade D. Laminations, voids, and pipe defects meeting the rejection criterion cause the billet to be scrapped before machining. UT clearance report issued for each passed billet.

Step 3 — Machining with Traceability

Billet serial number (cross-referenced to PMI and UT records) is logged to the production traveller at the start of turning. All subsequent operations are recorded against this traveller: machine, operator, date, tool change record.

Step 4 — Final Documentation Package

Ships with every order: PMI record, UT clearance report, MTR (EN 10204 3.1, heat-specific), CMM dimensional report, production traveller. All cross-referenced by order number and sprocket serial number.

Solution Annealing: Restoring Maximum Corrosion Resistance After Machining

Heavy machining of stainless steel generates localised heat at cutting interfaces that can precipitate chromium carbides at grain boundaries if the temperature dwell enters the sensitization range. For #100 scale parts where material removal is substantial, we apply solution annealing after rough machining: heating the part to 1,050–1,100 °C and water quenching. This dissolves any carbide precipitates and restores a fully austenitic, homogenous microstructure — which is the condition with maximum corrosion resistance. The treatment is standard on all #100 SS orders and is documented on the production traveller.

Avis clients

★★★★★

“Our TÜV inspector reviewed the full documentation package — PMI, UT clearance, MTR, CMM, traveller — and said it was the most complete material traceability package he had seen from any Asian sprocket manufacturer. The qualification audit passed in one session.”

— Ingénieur en chef, aciérie, Corée du Sud
★★★★★

“Offshore mooring tensioner, 18 months direct seawater spray on 316 SS #100 sprockets. Visual and dimensional inspection at dry-dock: zero corrosion, tooth profile within original CMM spec. The UT documentation satisfied our DNV certification requirement.”

— Marine Engineer, Offshore Services, Norway
★★★★☆

“Complex step-hub drawing — reviewed twice before machining, which caught a dimension conflict in our drawing. Delivered on time for the turnaround window. Documentation was comprehensive and well-organised.”

— Project Manager, Continuous Casting OEM, Japan

Foire aux questions

1. Is UT testing standard or do I need to request it? +
Standard on all #100 SS orders for billet over 120 mm diameter. The UT clearance report ships with the order without needing to be requested. For smaller billet diameters, UT is available on request.
2. What does ASTM A388 Grade D acceptance criterion mean? +
Grade D requires no reflectors larger than a 3.2 mm flat-bottom-hole reference at the inspection frequency used. This is a more stringent acceptance criterion than Grade A (6.4 mm) or Grade B (4.8 mm) — appropriate for heavy structural components with long inspection intervals.
3. How long does the solution annealing add to lead time? +
Solution annealing is integrated into the production schedule and does not add to the quoted lead time. It is performed after rough machining and before finish turning and hobbing, fitting within the standard 15–22 working day production cycle.
4. Can the UT and PMI documents be used for DNV or Lloyd’s Register certification? +
UT reports per ASTM A388 and MTRs per EN 10204 3.1 are recognised by major classification societies. For a specific DNV or Lloyd’s Register certification requirement, advise us of the applicable standard and we will confirm which test protocol and documentation format is required.
5. What is the fastest emergency lead time if we have a critical breakdown? +
Appelez-nous directement au +86-571-88220653. We maintain semi-finished 316 SS blanks (UT-cleared) in common sizes. For standard configurations this allows completion in 7–10 working days; airfreight reduces transit time to 3–5 days to most destinations.
