Cái Ever-Power #50 Stainless Steel Sprocket operates on ANSI 50 roller chain with a 15.875 mm (5/8″) pitch — a size that occupies the practical sweet spot between the ubiquitous #40 and the heavier #60. It handles meaningfully more torque than a #40 drive without the added weight and cost of #60 hardware, making it popular in high-throughput packaging lines, cannery conveyors, industrial washing machines, and agricultural seed-processing equipment. Machined in our Hangzhou plant to ANSI B29.1 class A tolerances from certified 304 or 316 stainless bar stock, each sprocket ships with a full dimensional check card and optional material test report.

Load Capacity and Speed Ratings
A correctly designed #50 chain drive can handle significantly higher loads than an #40 system at comparable speeds — typically 1.4–1.6× greater allowable tension due to the larger roller and pin dimensions. This makes the #50 pitch valuable whenever a #40 drive is approaching its power limit but a full step up to #60 hardware seems disproportionate. The stainless steel version maintains the same load ratings as carbon steel for static and low-speed dynamic loads; at very high speeds, the slightly lower tensile strength of annealed 304/316 versus heat-treated carbon steel should be accounted for in the drive design. Our engineering team can provide power transmission calculations on request when you supply drive speed, sprocket sizes, and centre distance.
Lubrication Recommendations
Even stainless steel systems benefit from lubrication at the chain-sprocket contact interface — it reduces heat generation and extends tooth face life. For food-grade applications, NSF H1-certified mineral oil or synthetic PTFE dry-film spray should be used. In washdown environments with frequent chain cleaning, select a food-grade anti-corrosion grease applied to the chain strand before each washdown cycle. Avoid petroleum-based lubricants in food contact zones; they are difficult to wash off completely and may fail regulatory inspection.
Where #50 Stainless Sprockets Excel
Applications that push an #40 system to its limits while not yet requiring the bulk of an #60 system are the natural home for this pitch. Stainless steel roller chain sprockets in the #50 range are routinely found in cannery conveyor drives, industrial dishwasher and tunnel-washer chains, high-volume bakery product transfer, agricultural seed cleaning lines, and swimming-pool chemical dosing conveyors. In every one of these environments, the ability of stainless steel to withstand daily chemical cleaning is what justifies the modest cost premium over carbon steel alternatives.
