The problem appears within the first operating hour: the smaller 8.51 mm roller of the DIN 8187 (08B) chain does not seat correctly in the 7.92 mm-roller-profile tooth form of the ANSI 40 sprocket. The chain rides high on the tooth tips, generates noise, and wears at a rate several times higher than normal. Within weeks, both sprocket and chain may require replacement.
