Manufactured from heavy-section 304 or 316 stainless steel billet on our largest CNC turning centres and gear-hobbing equipment, these sprockets are commonly specified for paper mill conveyors, steel plant lifting equipment, petrochemical factory transfer systems, large-scale food processing lines, and heavy agricultural machinery operating in outdoor or semi-outdoor environments.

Engineering Features of Large-Pitch SS Sprockets
At the #80 pitch scale, machining precision becomes even more critical — small angular errors in tooth position multiply into significant pitch accumulation errors over large-diameter sprockets, causing uneven load distribution across the chain strand. Our hobbing machines are calibrated with laser ball-bar measurement quarterly, and each hobbing cutter is dedicated by pitch size rather than shared across different sprocket families. This prevents the cutter-wear-induced profile degradation that can quietly degrade quality when tools are pushed beyond their optimal service range.
Weight Optimization for Large Sprockets
Large-pitch stainless sprockets are heavier than their carbon steel equivalents due to the lower density difference (stainless is about 5% heavier than carbon steel per unit volume). For large-diameter, high tooth-count sprockets, we offer optional weight-reduction pocketing — machined recesses in the disc face — that can reduce rotating mass by 15–25% without compromising tooth or hub strength. This is particularly valuable in fast-cycling, frequent start-stop applications where rotational inertia loads the motor and drive coupling significantly.
