European Standard Stainless Steel Sprocket | DIN 8187 SS Chain

ISO/DIN 8187 European standard stainless steel sprocket in 304 or 316 SS — a precision alternative to Renold, Iwis, and Kana European-pitch sprockets for food, pharmaceutical, and washdown chain drives across the EU, UK, and global markets.

Description

Hangzhou Ever-Power Sprocket Co., Ltd.

DIN 8187 / ISO 606 European standard stainless steel sprockets — precision engineered for European roller chains in corrosion-critical applications worldwide.

Product Overview

The Ever-Power European Standard Stainless Steel Sprocket is engineered to DIN 8187 / ISO 606 dimensional standards — the chain standard used across European-manufactured machinery and widely adopted in the UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, and beyond. Unlike ANSI sprockets, DIN 8187 chain uses a narrower inner width at equivalent pitch, making ANSI and DIN sprockets non-interchangeable even when pitch dimensions appear similar. Engineers selecting replacement sprockets for European machinery must specify DIN standard explicitly, and our European-standard range covers pitches from 8 mm through 38.1 mm (05B through 24B in British Standard notation) in 304 or 316 stainless steel. Each sprocket is manufactured to ISO 606 tooth-form geometry with full dimensional verification against DIN 8187 chain gauge sets before shipment.

DIN 8187 vs. ANSI B29.1 — Critical Differences

The most frequent error in global procurement of replacement chain sprockets is interchanging ANSI and DIN parts on the assumption that pitch alone determines compatibility. In practice, DIN 8187 (European) chain has a smaller roller diameter and narrower inner width than ANSI chain at equivalent pitch, meaning a DIN chain will skip or bind on an ANSI sprocket and vice versa. Always verify the chain marking — DIN/ISO chains are marked with their BS (British Standard) designation (e.g., 08B, 10B, 12B), while ANSI chains use the numeric code (40, 50, 60). If in doubt, send us a sample chain link and we will identify the standard and recommend the correct sprocket.

BS/DIN Designation Pitch (mm) Roller Dia. (mm) Inner Width (mm)
06B 9.525 6.35 5.72
08B 12.7 8.51 7.75
10B 15.875 10.16 9.65
12B 19.05 12.07 11.68
16B 25.4 15.88 17.02
20B 31.75 19.05 19.56

Manufacturing Quality & Certification

European machinery manufacturers are accustomed to rigorous documentation and traceability standards, and we take that expectation seriously. Every batch of European-standard stainless steel sprockets is produced against an ISO 9001:2015 quality plan with full traceability from billet heat number through to finished-part inspection. Tooth profiles are verified with a DIN 8187 chain gauge set; bore diameters are measured on calibrated bore gauges traceable to NIST/PTB national standards. Material test reports and inspection summary sheets are available as standard — not as a premium add-on.

Applications in European Industry

European-standard stainless steel sprockets serve the same broad range of hygiene-critical and corrosion-exposed applications as their ANSI counterparts — but the equipment they fit is designed to DIN/ISO rather than American dimensions. Key sectors include:

  • Food & Beverage (EU/UK) — EU Machinery Directive-compliant conveyors in breweries, dairies, and meat-cutting plants
  • Pharmaceutical (GMP) — blister-pack lines, capsule-filling conveyors, clean-room transfer systems
  • Agricultural Machinery — European-standard harvester and baler drive chains
  • Water & Wastewater — Dutch and Scandinavian municipal treatment plant conveyor chains
  • Printing & Packaging — high-speed DIN-standard paper feed and stacking drives

Customer Feedback

★★★★★

“We source 12B SS sprockets for our Netherlands dairy line — DIN compliance confirmed, material certs included. Ever-Power is now our preferred supplier over Renold for stainless SS variants. Lead time and pricing are both superior.”

— Purchasing Manager, Dairy Equipment OEM, Netherlands
★★★★★

“Used 08B 316 SS sprockets in a GMP pharmaceutical tablet coating line. Electropolish finish specified and delivered correctly. Passed our incoming QC without any remedial work. Will order again.”

— Validation Engineer, Pharma OEM, Switzerland
★★★★☆

“10B SS sprockets for a Swedish water treatment clarifier — 316 grade, 12-month service, no corrosion. Slightly longer lead time than expected for the 24T non-stock tooth count, but quality is excellent.”

— Site Engineer, Water Treatment Project, Sweden

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Are DIN 8187 and ISO 606 the same standard? +
Yes — DIN 8187 and ISO 606 are technically equivalent. ISO 606 is the international harmonized version of what was originally DIN 8187 in Germany and BS 228 in the UK. Products marketed as DIN 8187, ISO 606, or BS 228 compliant are interchangeable in the same chain family.
2. How do I identify whether my existing chain is DIN or ANSI? +
Look at the chain link marking: DIN/BS chains use letter-number codes (08B, 10B, 12B) while ANSI chains use plain numbers (40, 50, 60). If you can’t read the marking, measure the roller diameter — DIN chain rollers are smaller at equivalent pitch. Contact us with the pitch and roller diameter and we’ll identify the correct standard.
3. Do you supply DIN duplex (two-strand) stainless sprockets? +
Yes. Duplex (08B-2, 10B-2, 12B-2) and triplex sprockets are available as custom orders. Specify the BS/DIN chain designation, strand count, tooth number, bore size, and hub type when enquiring.
4. Can you supply CE-compliant documentation with the sprockets? +
Sprockets are a machine sub-component rather than a complete machine and do not themselves require a CE declaration. We can, however, supply ISO 9001:2015 certificates, DIN 8187 dimensional compliance statements, and EN 10204 3.1 material certs — the documentation set typically required by EU equipment OEMs and integrators.
5. What bore options are available for metric shafts? +
We supply finished bores in metric sizes from 10 mm through to the maximum bore for each hub. Standard DIN 6885 keyways are machined to H7 bore tolerance with N9 keyway width by default. Metric set-screw tapped holes can be added in lieu of keyways for light-duty applications.
