Bore options include standard, finished bore with keyway, and taper-lock hub configurations. 304 vs. 316 — Choosing the Right Grade
For standard food conveyor and pharmaceutical packaging applications, 304 SS delivers excellent value: it resists most organic acids, alkalis, and detergents at a lower material cost. Upgrade to 316 SS when the operating environment includes saltwater spray (marine decks, offshore platforms), concentrated chloride cleaning solutions, or continuous exposure to acidic food products such as citrus or vinegar brines. When in doubt, specify 316 — the cost differential is small relative to the downtime cost of premature failure.
