#40 Stainless Steel Sprocket | Designed Around Poultry Line Uptime

ANSI 40 stainless steel sprocket in 316 SS — engineered for the blood-acid, hypochlorite, and high-pressure washdown conditions of poultry processing lines. Taper-lock hub options allow planned sprocket changeout in under 15 minutes. Replaces Browning, Martin, and Dodge carbon #40 units that fail in weeks, not years.

الوصف

شركة هانغتشو إيفر-باور سبراكت المحدودة

A poultry slaughter line runs 16 hours a day through blood, bone particles, cleaning chemicals, and high-pressure hot water. The maintenance window is the four hours when it stops. The sprocket has to survive the other twenty.

Why Poultry Lines Are Hard on Mechanical Drives

Poultry processing presents a combination of corrosive challenges that few other food applications match. Blood is mildly acidic (pH 7.0–7.4, but containing organic acids that attack metal surfaces under scale). High-pressure washdown with hypochlorite sanitizer (sodium hypochlorite, a strong chloride source) follows every production run. The wash water temperature cycles between ambient and 60–70 °C. Bone particles and feather fragments produce abrasive debris that works into chain-sprocket contacts. Carbon steel in this environment progresses from surface oxidation to pitting corrosion to through-thickness perforation of chain plates in a matter of weeks — with rust particles migrating through the chain drive and into the product zone throughout. The ترس من الفولاذ المقاوم للصدأ من إيفر-باور #40 in 316 SS eliminates the corrosion variable from this environment. The chloride resistance of 316 SS handles the hypochlorite sanitiser that pits 304 SS. The smooth machined finish does not trap organic debris. The consistent pitch accuracy maintained through the service life means chain tension stays predictable and does not drift as corrosion-enlarged tooth profiles begin to advance chain length.

The Taper-Lock Hub: 15-Minute Sprocket Changeout Without Shaft Removal

The maintenance window on a poultry line is the most constrained in food processing: typically four hours between the end of sanitation and the start of the next production run, during which the drive system must be inspected, any worn components replaced, re-lubricated, and function-tested. A conventional finished-bore sprocket requires shaft end access — which means removing bearings, drive couplings, and adjacent components before the sprocket will slide off. A taper-lock hub sprocket requires loosening three screws. That difference between 90 minutes and 15 minutes of wrench time is the difference between a maintenance schedule that works and one that routinely runs over. We supply all our #40 SS sprockets in taper-lock hub configuration as a standard option, using QD and SDS bushing series that are compatible with the most common shaft sizes on poultry conveyor equipment.

How Taper-Lock Removal Works in Practice

1️⃣
Loosen 3 screws
Back off the three cap screws in the bushing flange half a turn each.
2️⃣
Transfer 2 screws
Move two screws to the pusher holes — they jack the bushing loose from the taper bore.
3️⃣
Slide off the shaft
Sprocket and bushing slide clear. No bearing or coupling disturbance.
4️⃣
Install new sprocket
Slide new sprocket and bushing onto shaft, torque three screws to spec. Done.

What Poultry Plant Engineers Report

★★★★★

“Switched our evisceration conveyor to Ever-Power 316 SS taper-lock sprockets. Changeout time dropped from 90 minutes to under 20. We can now inspect and replace during the normal sanitation window without running over.”

— Maintenance Manager, Poultry Processing, Brazil

★★★★★

“Two years on the kill-floor conveyor. Zero corrosion on the 316 SS units. Previously we were replacing carbon sprockets every 6 weeks. The annual parts spend on this drive dropped by about 70%.”

— Plant Engineer, Poultry Slaughterhouse, Poland

★★★★☆

“Good product, delivered correctly. The pre-assembled taper-lock spare kits we ordered are stored on-site for instant changeout — that was exactly the recommendation from our reliability engineer. Very practical setup.”

— Reliability Engineer, Poultry OEM, Australia

الأسئلة الشائعة

1. Which QD bushing series fits the most common poultry conveyor shaft sizes? +
For #40 pitch poultry conveyors, the most common shaft sizes are 25–50 mm (1″–2″). This range is covered by 1008, 1108, 1210, and 1310 QD bushing series. Tell us your shaft diameter and we will specify the correct bushing for your order.
2. How should I store pre-kitted spare sprockets on-site? +
Store pre-assembled taper-lock sprockets in their VCI packaging in a dry location away from steel racks (contact with carbon steel can introduce free iron surface contamination). Keep taper bore and shaft contact surfaces lightly oiled with an NSF H1 compatible oil. Pre-kits should include the replacement bushing with screws torqued finger-tight for quick installation.
3. Do 316 SS sprockets resist chlorinated sanitisers? +
نعم. 316 SS is the specified grade for chlorinated sanitiser environments — its molybdenum content stabilises the passive oxide layer against chloride pitting. 304 SS is vulnerable to pitting in high-chloride environments; 316 resists reliably through the concentration ranges used in standard poultry plant sanitation protocols.
4. Can I get split hub sprockets for mid-shaft installation? +
Yes. Two-piece split 316 SS sprockets are available as custom orders for shafts where end access is obstructed. Provide tooth count, bore, and hub length and we will produce a bolted-split design. Pitch circle concentricity is held to within 0.05 mm TIR on these configurations.
5. What is the typical service life in a poultry plant environment? +
Customer reports from similar poultry applications show 18–30 months before measurable tooth wear on 316 SS sprockets running with matched SS chain. Compare this to 4–10 weeks for carbon steel in the same environment. The actual limiting factor in SS drives is chain elongation from pin-bushing wear, not sprocket corrosion.
