The #60 Stainless Steel Sprocket from Hangzhou Ever-Power handles ANSI 60 roller chain with a 19.05 mm (3/4″) pitch — the first of the genuinely heavy-duty ANSI chain family. At this pitch, sprockets carry substantially higher tensile and shock loads than the lighter #40 and #50 sizes, making them the standard choice for heavy conveying, log-handling equipment, forestry machinery, heavy industrial washing systems, and chemical plant transfer equipment. Our #60 SS sprockets are hobbed from 304 or 316 stainless steel billet on rigid gear-hobbing machines with anti-vibration fixturing to ensure tooth-to-tooth pitch accuracy within ±0.025 mm — a precision level that directly translates to quieter chain engagement and longer chain life in service.

Performance in Heavy-Duty Environments

The jump from #50 to #60 pitch represents roughly a 40% increase in allowable chain tension, enabling much higher power transmission through a single strand. For stainless steel applications, this matters most in heavy-duty washdown environments such as fish-processing factory floors and underground mining conveyors where chemical and moisture exposure is relentless and the mechanical loads are high simultaneously. Our 316 SS grade handles both demands without a supplemental coating — the material itself is the protection. Where tooth face hardness is a concern at high loads, we offer selective induction hardening of the tooth faces only, preserving the corrosion resistance of the base material while adding surface hardness of HRC 40–45 at the contact zone.

Induction Hardening — When to Specify It

Induction hardening is worth specifying in any application where the sprocket drives a heavily loaded chain at moderate to high speeds, particularly with shock or reversing loads. The hardened tooth face (HRC 40–45) resists brinelling from roller impact, while the softer SS core remains ductile to absorb shock without tooth fracture. Food-safe processes may opt for electropolished-only finish to maximise cleanability rather than hardness — the trade-off depends on whether tooth wear or hygiene compliance is the primary design driver.
